Our community engagement goes much further than our sponsorship and events program. Each year our staff play a major 'hands on' role in raising funds and providing support for a number of charities and community groups in and around the capital region.
ActewAGL has developed a corporate culture that supports community groups and encourages its employees through its Workplace Giving program. Over the last two years employees raised many thousands of dollars for charities.
We encourage our staff to donate to charities by often matching staff contributions once a certain amount is raised.
The Workplace Giving program allows staff to request cash and leave donations to be deducted from their pay via salary sacrifice. Staff can also exchange recreation leave for charitable donations.

Through our staff support and staff volunteer program, sponsorship, events, fundraising and philanthropic activities, we support over 150 community initiatives in our community each year. Some of the organisations, events and causes we have supported include:
- Woman and Girl’s Fun Run and Walk
- Car Boot Sale – Eden Monaro Cancer Support Group
- City to Surf – Australian Foundation for Mental Health Research
- Earth Hour
- Manuka Child Care Centre Spring Bling
